A wall consisting of dozens of speakers immediately catches the eye in the dining area of this villa in Oirschot. After five and a half years of living pleasure, Saskia and Jeroen van Wezel say goodbye to their self-designed house. And they do so with a heavy heart, because in addition to the striking wall, the new resident becomes the owner of even more striking details.
The villa at the Slingerbos in Oirschot has been for sale for two months on Funda for 1,250,000 euros. The house lives up to the street name Slingerbos, because you can certainly swing. “My husband designed the house and he thinks coziness and a playful effect are very important,” says Saskia.
“I dare say that we are quite sporty, so we wanted to attach a climbing frame to the wooden beams in the living room. Gymnastics rings turned out to be a nice addition. When our children’s friends come in, they quickly hang in the rings” she laughs.
Another authentic addition to the interior is the speaker wall. “We were looking for a separation between the dining area and the play corner for the kids. When a friend of my husband’s wanted to get rid of his wall full of music boxes, he jumped at the chance.”
Those interested just don’t have to worry about hearing damage. “Of the 59 speakers in the wall, only two are connected to the stereo, because it doesn’t make you happy when they are all on.”
What distinguishes the house even more from other houses is the ‘reversed layout’. For example, you live in the upper part of the house, but you sleep in the basement of the villa. In the lower part you will find two bathrooms, an enviable closet wall and four bedrooms with a view of the patio.
In addition to a patio, there is a sunny terrace with a view of the green garden. And even on the terrace the use of the wooden beams continues.
Furthermore, the sloping roof makes the house unique. The pointed window above the kitchen is also characteristic of the house. And with a bit of luck, the full moon shines through the window at night.
After five and a half years of living pleasure, Saskia and Jeroen leave their special house with mixed feelings. “My husband is a real builder, so we are taking on a new challenge. But we will stay in Oirschot, we don’t want to leave.”
