Sarajevo, one of the well-established football clubs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, wants to bring the excitement of European cups to the city with its new administration, tens of thousands of fans and sports academy.
The club, which also has strong ties with Turkish institutions and organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, seeks to increase these relations in the coming periods.
Ismir Mirvic, who returned to Bosnia from the USA in September 2021 and took Sarajevo in bad condition, made a statement to the AA correspondent about the club’s situation and future plans.
Saying that THY is the long-term sponsor of Sarajevo Football Club, Mirvic said, “The relations between Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina are above sponsorship relations. Turkey is our strategic partner and THY’s presence in Sarajevo carries a support mission.” said.
Stating that they have signed a three-year cooperation agreement with the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) and TMV Sarajevo Schools, Mirvic noted that the students of these schools will be provided with free match tickets.

Stating that FK Sarajevo’s strategic potential has not been used yet, Mirvic said, “I made successful investments in many fields and different companies in America, and then I decided to return here. I have sincere intentions from the beginning. I was born in this city, I love this city and Sarajevo Football Club. This is my club. Getting the Sarajevo Club was a task I did not want to miss. This project is a legacy I will leave to my city and country.” he said.
Expressing that Sarajevo has an “incredible” spirit, Mirvic said that no one who visited the city was unaffected.
Noting that the biggest potential of the club is the sports academy, Mirvic said that thanks to the academy that includes 260 athletes, boys and girls from the Western Balkans and Bosnia will be able to step into professional sports life.
Expressing that their aim is for the club to sustain itself first and then make a profit, Mirvic added that they want to offer a reliable partnership option in the Balkans to all the sponsors of the club with tens of thousands of fans.
