Sarah Connor on the war in Ukraine

Most recently, Sarah Connor announced on Instagram that her “Herz Kraft Werke” tour could continue, after which it became quiet on her account. On Thursday (March 10th), the German pop singer then published two emotional posts summarizing her thoughts and feelings about the current situation in the world.

The photos show Connor on the beach, on one she is still looking thoughtfully into the camera, on the other she is looking into the distance. Her words show that the current situation is stressing her, she would have deliberately stayed away from social media, “much to her regret [ihrer] record label”.

The singer finds it “strange to see the careless bikini photos or advertising posts – about some fitness tees or whatever – from others these days.. As if everything just keeps going.” She is referring to the war in Ukraine ; the “images of the dead, of those fleeing… the thoughts, the fears that are aroused” had a “numbing” effect on her. At the same time, she also admits that her life goes on despite everything.

Her words reflect her world pain, at the same time the 41-year-old notes that the state and private sector sanctions can make sense: “So if there is anything to be learned from this terrible situation in which we are now in Europe, then yes, that big changes are possible.”

The music would give Connor support in this situation, she writes. She was in the studio for recordings and found it difficult to concentrate: “My head is so full at the moment…full of worries….” Nevertheless, she is full of anticipation about her upcoming tour. “I want to sing with you and feel love and celebrate closeness and our togetherness,” said the singer in her second post on Thursday, which she dedicates entirely to her love of music.

She wasn’t sure if everyone who bought a ticket for her show really wanted to go to the concert and if she wouldn’t end up without many spectators. No matter the circumstances under which the appointments take place: “We will definitely be there, because we need you at least as much as you need the music,” writes the artist.

Sarah Connor received a lot of encouragement in the comments: “I agree with your thoughts unreservedly,” writes a fan. Gratitude is expressed in other posts: “Thank you for the clear words, I feel the same about hair” or “Dear Sarah, thank you for yours beautiful, empathetic words… it touches me a lot to read that and you speak to us all from the soul, “says the followers.

The singer is not the only one to comment on the war in Ukraine on social media. Most recently, Sting took a stand with a version of his song “Russians” and Till Lindemann canceled concerts in Russia.

The current album by the former “Voice of Germany” juror is called “Herz Kraft Werke”. As part of her single “Stark” she drew attention to the clinical picture of depression – also in an Instagram statement – and asked for more understanding from outsiders.
