Santa Coloma begins the restoration works of the Paseo del Besòs

The naturalization works of the Paseo del river Besos in Santa Coloma de Gramenetfrom the bridge of the B-20 of the Pallaresa Avenue up to the height of Bosc Llarg industrial estate, began this past October 10 and is scheduled to last a year and a half.

The main actions to be carried out, with a budget of €886,957 in charge of municipal coffers and European funds Next Generation, are the naturalization of the route with the increase of parterres, trees and green spaces; the improvement of pavements to consolidate a safer itinerary; and the installation of new street furniture in a section of 2 km.

In addition, the reduction of two in a circulation lane in the Sant Adrià direction of the section between av. Anselm de Riu and Av. Pallaresa, and the closure of the promenade next to the river wall in the section of works. A provisional path for pedestrians will be left on the mountain side of the work, says the consistory.

Removal of trees in poor condition

Of the total of 119 trees that currently exist on the promenade, 48 that are in poor condition, with broken branches and rotten roots, will be removed and replaced by new trees of various species better adapted to urban conditions. In total, when the performance ends, the walk together will go from having 119 trees to 213, with 174 new plantings.

On the other hand, the City Council also highlights the creation of new flower beds for a total of 1,900 square meters. Part of the area currently occupied by pavement or grass will be planted with bush species, increasing the biodiversity of the area.
