An anonymous phone call triggers the checks, but for now there is no confirmation on the possible presence of bombs
Moments of fear in Sanremo: around 11pm on Monday 5 February, Villa Nobel was hastily evacuated, the site of a dinner organized by Mediaset radio with the presence of almost all the big names of the festival on the eve of the first evening scheduled for Tuesday. The police have isolated the area, the fire brigade is on site and the bomb squad is expected, even if for now there is no confirmation after the anonymous phone call announcing the presence of a bomb in the villa.

The inauguration party of Oltre il festival was underway at Villa Nobel, the Radio Mediaset project which involves, for the whole week, six broadcasters, Radio 105, Radio Monte Carlo, R101, Radio Subasio, Radio Norba, Radio Bella & Monella , a meeting and discussion point between professionals, artists and guests. At the invitation dinner – they explain from Radio Mediaset – there were several artists competing in the festival, which starts tomorrow, as well as radio talent. “We were sitting at the tables – they say – when the police entered and asked us to leave quickly, without specifying anything else or making any mention of bomb scares. We left the villa, which overlooks the Aurelia, and they blocked the road to the controls. Now we have returned to our respective hotels.”
According to Adnkronos, the alarm was raised by an anonymous phone call to the switchboard of the Sanremo Public Security Police Station. The testimony of Francesco Facchinetti, former DJ Francesco and now manager of Mr Rain, appeared on Instagram. He tried to tell on Instagram what happened at Villa Nobel: “A bomb scare, this also happens in Sanremo. Now we got into the van – he says Facchinetti in a story while returning to the hotel -. We were at the first one, around 300-350 people. Everyone got worried when they saw the dogs starting to roam. It seems like there is something explosive, I’m not sure what… Let’s wait” .
The anti-explosive police dog teams have arrived in the interdiction area created by the police around Villa Nobel. Meanwhile, the agents have expanded the red zone around the villa. The road is closed in both directions. “The police arrived with torches – said two young waiters on duty during the party – and told us to go out. Everything took place very calmly, but people were unable to take their personal belongings. Everything remained inside”. Another testimony came from the cook: “I work inside the Villa, I’m a cook. Around 10pm they asked us to evacuate the room, albeit very calmly. We went out and now they are carrying out the cleanup, we will know later. We were about halfway through dinner – explains the chef – it all happened around 10pm. At that moment we were at the first course, we were serving the orecchiette with turnip tops”.
