Sani Brannfors won World Championship bronze at the World Amateur Freestyle Championships in Albania.
Only 18 years old, the super promise of the Finnish freestyle won the medal, even though he suffered the first loss of his professional career in the semifinals.
Brännfors defeated Sweden in the semi-finals in the 61.2-kilogram category For Millie Eriksson with a technical knockout. World Cup medals are strung around the necks of those who lost in the semifinals, so Brännfors had the honor of bringing the only prize plaque of the Finnish Games.
Brännfors won their quarter-final match against Estonia Alisa Bostania with a stranglehold.
Before the World Cup, Brannförs had 15 amateur matches under their belts, all of which had ended in victory for the Finnish talent.
Brännfors has previously won the under-21 and under-18 world championships.
The medal was the first for Finland at these World Championships.
