Sandy Salisbury & Curt Boettcher: “Try For The Sun” (Review & Stream)

Known for his work with The Association and Sagittarius, Curt Boettcher convinced Brian Wilson to quit surf music before recording Pet Sounds, according to Byrds producer Gary Usher. Sandy Salisbury became a singer in his bands The Ballroom and The Millennium. He was immediately fascinated by catchy tunes like “Never My Love”, “Windy” and “Along Comes Mary”. In preparation for their band projects, they recorded many new songs on professional equipment in what later became known as classic West Coast “sunshine pop”. These 17 excellent mono mixes demonstrate how wonderfully they harmonize with the recordings archived as “Publishing Demos”.
