Sanapolis gets a new interpretation

The building in Sijsele has a long history. It started as a TB sanatorium. Forty years later it was transformed into a nursing school, and from the 1960s it has been a general hospital. That was the case until 2017, six years later the building finally gets a new purpose.

Multifunctional site

Vitamove, a sports medical exercise school, is currently already located in the buildings of the former hospital. With the arrival of Sanapolis as a multifunctional site, a banquet hall, therapeutic petting zoo and a sports hotel will also be added. Luc Verhelst of Sanapolis explains in more detail: “Sanapolis is now becoming a very multifunctional site that revolves around three pillars: everything that has to do with sport and exercise. Secondly, everything about social health and care and a third pillar is tourism.”

The current AZ Alma polyclinic will remain. The grand opening of Sanapolis will follow in June.
