San Siro, Inter and Milan’s doubts about the stadium being open during the works

Having presented the first draft of the Webuild project, the clubs ask for clarity on the times and methods of the restructuring. But in the meantime they move forward with their plans

During the meeting at Palazzo Marino, Sala reiterated to Inter and Milan the possibility of examining a restructuring project in depth following the example of what was illustrated by Webuild, but at the moment it is only a first draft which will need to be explored and integrated with more precise studies before being taken seriously into consideration. The face-to-face meeting did not change the minds of the clubs, who will therefore continue to proceed on the streets of Rozzano and San Donato Milanese.

In fact, before being able to consider the idea of restructuring the Meazza, the parties involved must be able to consult a more in-depth study than what WeBuild theorized after the inspection of the system currently in use. Excluding the possibility of a period behind closed doors during the works (the lack of revenue would be a drain), the feared possibility of continuing to play while the stadium is being renovated plays a central role: without a defined project that the clubs do not expect before mid-May, however, the unknown on the topic is enormous. First of all on the timing, which brings with it a physiological factor of uncertainty that is potentially economically unfavorable, and secondly on the percentage capacity that San Siro could afford at each stage of the renovation. The construction of the new stadium next to the existing one – before its demolition – was the option preferred by the clubs due to time and costs, this intermediate path currently raises too many question marks. Which were not revealed in today’s interim meeting and which will have to be resolved in order to truly convince Inter and Milan.
