Police have not released the identity of the man who drove into the building in a Honda. Nothing is known about a possible motive, a spokesperson said at a press conference. The vehicle entered the lobby of the building.
Images show that officers responded en masse to the incident. The police say they are investigating the matter together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “There is very little information we can share at this time,” the spokesperson said.
The damage to the building is significant, the Chinese consulate wrote in a statement.
