Legal sources have informed Efe that the Malaysian authorities have responded to a rogatory commission sent by the head of the 47th Investigating Court of Madrid, Adolfo Carretero, in which they communicate that Chin Choon has not agreed to testify. voluntarily.
According to the letter sent to the court, reported by eldiario.es, the Malaysian Prosecutor’s Office has reported that they managed to find the whereabouts of San Chin Choon, but that he has declined to collaborate with the investigation and that the laws of the country only allow him to be questioned voluntarily at this procedural stage.
San Chin Choon appears to be the administrator of Leno, the company through which Luceño and Medina (investigated in this proceeding as a result of a complaint by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office) operated in Malaysia for the purchase of medical supplies with which they allegedly defrauded the Madrid City Council during the pandemic. Chin Choon signed contracts and paid commissionsor at least that is what the Prosecutor’s Office wants to verify, which has doubts about the authenticity of several documents collected in the case.
For this reason, already in May 2021, he issued a rogatory commission in which he asked the Malaysian authorities to interrogate Chin Choon as a witness. Four months later this country requested additional information to locate him and, after the initiative was stuck in the Ministry of Justice due to the requirements of the eastern country, it was processed again in January 2022.
