Samuli Samuelsson came second in the 100 meters of the Sweden match. The victory flew to the neighboring country by two hundredths For Henrik Larssonwho clocked 10.34.
– The goal was to win the hundred. There was a bit of a gap in the tooth, but when there is only one attempt, you don’t always get a button success.
According to Samuelsson, instant messaging should be Finland’s hay with reliable exchanges.
At the European Championships in Munich, the Finnish runner’s message went awry. With Samuelsson’s first step, the hand hit the side of the Turkish runner on the sideline.
Samuelsson’s finger took the hit in the situation. After the race, the runner said that the finger felt “excruciatingly painful”. At the Olympic Stadium, the finger didn’t hurt any more.
– Not broken, ligaments stretched a bit. It has been treated with rest, Samuelsson commented.
– All of that has been experienced in the message as well.
Finally, Finland finished sixth in the relay with a time of 39.37. From the Turkish runner, Samuelsson said that he blew the air away.
In the summer, the Finnish record for 100 meters was broken again in Porvoo with a time of 10.16. In addition, he ran his ninth Finnish championship in Joensuu. These were, in the sprinter’s opinion, top ten performances.
There was still a lot to crack, even though there were a few top successes in the summer.
– It’s a shame that I haven’t quite reached my level and got under 10.30. When you look at the times, yes my level has gone up, but I would have liked it to go up a little more.
There have been four runs under 10.30 this summer. Otherwise, the runs have been barely on the wrong side of the target time.
Samuelsson will continue his work in the Swedish match with another 200 meters and in the men’s relay.
A representative of the Ikaal athletes will still participate in the SM messages next weekend. After that, the competition season is over.
