Samuli Samuelsson has run 100 meters in Porvoo, a new Finnish record of 10.16.

Samuelsson’s result came in the final race. The previous SE time was Tommi Hartonen 10.21 from 2001.

– Yes, this surprised me. Unbelievable, this has been my dream since 2014 when I broke 10.54. Unbelievable feeling, absolutely speechless, Samuelsson said immediately after the race.

The 27-year-old Samuelsson already came close to the Finnish record earlier on Sunday in the heats, where he ran only a hundredth of the distance from Hartonen’s record.

In the final race, the 21-year-old SE time was reduced by no less than five hundredths.

In total, Samuelsson improved last year’s record of 10.27 on Sunday by 11 hundredths.

Samuelsson ranks 17th in this season’s European list with his new record.
