Yılport Samsunspor’s German coach Markus Gisdol said, “I was very surprised after coming to the Super League, I saw the quality here.” said.
Markus Gisdol, who took over Samsunspor in the Super League for the first time after coaching FC Köln, Hamburg, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in Germany and FK Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia, talked about his observations about Turkish football.
Pointing out that being a referee is difficult all over the world, Gisdol said, “It is especially difficult to be a referee in Turkey. If you are a referee in Turkey, you have a much harder time, I am sure it is easier to be a referee in Germany. As a coach, I need to look at my own performance. “As long as I live here, I try to keep up with Turkish culture.” he said.
Gisdol pointed out that there are quality teams in the Super League and continued as follows:
“I was very surprised after coming to the Super League, I saw the quality here. Turkish football is a league that develops day by day. Frankly, I did not expect it to be this difficult. We are playing against very tough opponents, there are very good teams. Antalyaspor is one of them. “I think it is difficult to play against them, especially away from home. There are very difficult opponents like Antalya.”
Evaluating the situation of the National Football Team, Gisdol said, “The national team is playing incredibly, very well. If a system consisting of young people from academies continues in this way and if young people are given more time, I definitely think that Turkish football will develop more in the coming years.” he said.
