Sami Uotila has not tried to squeeze his common-law partner into the role of stepmother.
Sami Uotila52, tells about her cohabitation in the Yökylä Maria Veitola series Kerttu Rissanen, 27, with his everyday life. Uotila is the father of two children, and the new family pattern has once required planning.
Veitola asks the couple directly how their life together has been, when, for example, Uotila’s children from a previous union are part of the couple’s everyday life.
– Quite well, in my opinion. Yes, this has potential. So of course it’s sometimes difficult to join another’s family, but I think we get along really well with Sam’s children. They have welcomed me nicely, says Rissanen.

It was already clear to Uotila at the beginning of the relationship that she would not demand that Rissanen start raising her children. He also had the same conversation with his teenage children.
– At the beginning, I made the game pretty clear, and at the same time I told Kertu and the children that now there is such a pattern that she is my girlfriend, but she is not a stepmother, and I am in charge here. I sort of removed the responsibility from him that he should participate in such educational matters. They are all my hay, Uotila states.
The teenage children live with Uotila and Rissanen every other week. Rissanen assures that the arrangement has worked exactly as Uotila originally planned.
– I have not been in the role of a stepmother. This has been quite good for this, sums up Rissanen.
Although the rules of the game have been clear from the beginning, challenges have not been avoided.
– These new family patterns are never easy, Uotila states.
