You find it less annoying for one celebrity than for another celebrity, but ultimately you don’t wish it on anyone: falling off your stool live on television. It almost happened to Anouk last week, but it has also happened to Samantha ‘horse diet’ Steenwijk, reveals RTL Boulevard megastar Luuk Ikink.

Good Lord

Luuk has it all BLVD Podcast about the performance that Anouk gave in his show section. “That almost went wrong. I was standing quite close. Anouk’s chair was on a podium. A small increase of about 15 centimeters. And Anouk went completely crazy during the second song, Good God, so she moved a lot in her seat.”

And then the misery began, according to Luuk. “Back and forth, back and forth. And then I saw that chair slide back. And so he slowly moved to the edge of that stage.”

Flashback

Luuk immediately had a flashback to a traumatic moment with former colleague Samantha Steenwijk. “I know Samantha Steenwijk, who was in our studio once… She almost fell over. That was during the commercial break. Then I said to her, “Be careful, because your chair is about to fall off.” It was also on the edge.”

It was more difficult to intervene with Anouk, says the presenter. “Anouk was now singing, so I couldn’t say to her: ‘You shouldn’t move so much anymore, otherwise you’ll fall off your chair in a moment.’ And it was really the last minute and a half that I had a cramp in my stomach wondering: what should I do?”

‘Then you fall badly’

Anouk was really on the edge, according to Luuk. “Then you can do two things. Or you drop her. Well, then she falls completely backwards. And then you have a really bad fall. Or you intervene before it happens. Well, that seems like the best option to me. But it is a very bad option, because then I am the only one who saw that the chair was about to fall.”

He continues: “I then walk towards her when nothing has happened yet, so the viewer thinks: why does that guy walk towards Anouk and grab her chair? Anouk would also have thought: what is this guy doing? And everyone thinks at that moment: what a completely exaggerated reaction from Luuk Ikink. So I’m glad it wasn’t necessary.”

Behind Nikkie

Rob Goossens is scared to death by this story. “I didn’t get any of that at all. Now that you mention it, I was of course sitting next to her and Nikkie was still in between. At a certain point I could no longer see Anouk. But of course that was because she had been pushed back.”

Luuk: “She completely supported Nikkie. That was really exciting. I’m really happy that it went well. Otherwise I would have had to walk there.”

Criticism of Op1

Rob: “Then no one would have wanted to come. Boulevard, the place where we let our greatest artists fall off the stage.”

Luuk: “Yes, we all criticized Op1 (where such an accident actually took place, ed.) and then we let Anouk tumble off the stage. Fortunately it didn’t happen.”
