Wheelchair tennis player Sam Schröder has lost the singles final at Roland Garros. On the gravel in Paris, Niels Vink was too strong in two sets: 4-6 and 6-7.
The final of the Gelener was completed on Sunday-morning after the game was halted on Saturday due to prolonged rainfall.

tiebreak
Schröder immediately resumed his match with a crucial tiebreak in the second set. Vink had already won the first set on Saturday and would win the second set and the match if he won the tiebreak. Schröder captured the first two points in the tiebreak on Saturday, starting the sequel on Sunday with a 2-0 lead. Vink started the continuation much stronger, taking six of the first seven runs played. As a result, he led 6-3 and got three game points.
Match Points
Schröder managed to get rid of all those game points and the Limburger was level again: 6-6. After that, Vink again got the opportunity to decide the match, but again De Gelener equalized and then got the opportunity to win the set himself. That didn’t work and Vink was able to use his fifth game point moments later.
Doubles final
Schröder thus closes the tournament with a second place. Last Friday, the Gelener did win the double final. Together with Niels Vink, he was too strong for the Australian Davidson and the Brazilian Silva.
