The Italian fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo SpA announced on Monday the appointment of Maximilian Davis as creative director. The Briton will take up his new post on Wednesday, the company said in a statement.
Davis has caused a stir in recent years with his eponymous label, which he founded after graduating from the London College of Fashion in 2020. At Ferragamo, he now succeeds Paul Andrew, who left the company last spring. Since then, the collections have been developed by the fashion house’s remaining design team.
Ferragamo CEO Marco Gobbetti thinks highly of the future creative director: “I am delighted to be able to welcome Maximilian to the Ferragamo house. The clarity of his vision, level of execution and powerful aesthetic make him one of the brightest talents of his generation,” he said in a statement. “His work is characterized by elegance, refined sensuality and an ongoing commitment to quality.” With his eye for current sensibilities, Davis will “write a new, exciting chapter for the fashion house, one that builds on its tradition of creativity, craftsmanship, sophistication and outstanding people.” values,” says Gobbetti.
Davis said he was “deeply honored” by his appointment. “I am grateful for the opportunity to build on the rich and deep heritage of the fashion house,” the Manchester-born designer said in a statement.
