The Salvador Allende Bridge in Berlin-Köpenick was reopened to traffic on Monday.
After the western part was released in November 2019, the eastern part of the bridge is now passable again, the Senate administration announced on Monday. Traffic routing will be changed later in the day.
According to the Senate administration, pedestrians and cyclists will be diverted over the western part of the bridge until the beginning of December.
The Salvador Allende Bridge over the Müggelspree is one of the most important transport links in the south-east of the city. The western part was closed in 2014 and has been demolished for a new building since 2017.
According to the Senate Department, the new building cost 37 million euros.
In February 2019 there was a power outage that caused a stir. A cable had been damaged during the construction work; 30,000 households were without power for 31 hours.
