Shortly thereafter, the record champions made the separation of Salihamidzic and CEO Oliver Kahn public. Salihamidzic drew a positive conclusion from his time in Munich. “I learned a lot. FC Bayern is something special, a club that will always be successful. That’s why I’m very proud of the time,” he said. In his view, the current team is “the best in Europe”. Even if the team had “a bit of a problem” at the end of the season, he was convinced of the team: “The work was very good. I believe in the team, they will win the Champions League in the next few years.”

Discuss FC Bayern now in the forumThis way
In the future he wants to take a vacation first and then devote himself to other projects. “I hope that the fans will remember me well,” said Salihamidzic. Before that, he wanted to say goodbye to FC Bayern with the championship party: “I want to say goodbye because that’s how it should be. I will have FC Bayern in my heart.” Salihamidzic said he also hopes that technical director Marco Neppe will stay with Munich. “He stays there for now. Of course it depends on how it goes on. He’s part of FC Bayern and it has to stay that way.”

When asked, the outgoing sports director also commented on the dismissed coach Julian Nagelsmann, who was replaced by Thomas Tuchel in the spring. “This title also belongs to Julian Nagelsmann, he also has a hand on the bowl. We want him to know that we appreciate him very much. The parting with Julian was the hardest for me. He’s a really good guy and also cordially invited to the party,” the 46-year-old is quoted as saying on “Sport1”.
