Munich (AP) – Bayern Munich’s sports director Hasan Salihamidzic has expressed reservations about possible contract talks with Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Müller and Manuel Neuer.
“We have to make sure that our quality in the team and the economic component match. Of course we have a pandemic, it’s still there. We still don’t have a full stadium. We’re going through a difficult phase financially. We’ll try to find our way to go,” said Salihamidzic on the Sky TV channel on the sidelines of the Bundesliga game against Union Berlin.
The successful trio still has a contract with FC Bayern until 2023. Salihamidzic did not want to say whether there had already been talks. “We’ll do our job,” said the former Bayern professional. Coach Julian Nagelsmann said after the 4-0 win that “there would also be appointments”. “There are also certain strategies, not to comment on everything. In the end, we want the players to stay. There will be talks about that.”
When discussing the salary of the professionals, Nagelsmann also said that the players had “not only earned 1,500 euros” so far. But the decisive factor is that they all “made a good impression, march well and are in the mood”. Lewandowski scored twice against Union.
