Salesforce chooses low-code to integrate into Slack

On the occasion of TrailblazerDX 2022, Salesforce and Slack unveiled a series of announcements all converging on the creation of applications for the messaging service. While the two companies had already launched several integrations last summer, it is now a question of bringing their two technical cores closer together.

Salesforce Platform for Slack at the heart of the project

As the main point of this rapprochement, a tool called Salesforce Platform for Slack. It should allow the 11 million Salesforce developers to create native applications in Slack using a language they already know: Apex.

This is how Slack created an SDK specifically for Apex, in the same way that it already existed for Java, Node.js, Python… Developers will then be able to create applications for Slack much faster “ and it will help them tremendously, because there are modules that will allow them to create services, like a common workflow in Salesforce, like updating an account record, there will be no need learn Slack modules to build a user interface,” says Bear Douglas, Director of Developer Relations at Slack.

Another component of this platform is the ability to add actions to Salesforce process flows that will take place on Slack. ” Organizations can transform tedious tasks, such as creating Slack channels to collaborate, sending account status updates to colleagues, or archiving chat channels, into fully automated workflows.,” continues Bear Douglas.

Finally, Salesforce announces the update of the three applications presented last year, thanks to this famous platform. Sales cloud for Slack, Service Cloud for Slack, and Marketing Cloud for Slack are now available in beta. ” We’ve spent a lot of time crafting these types of workflows and experiences that we believe will significantly change the way people can work together in each of these contexts.,” she adds.

Less than a year after finalizing the acquisition of Slack, Salesforce is making its strategy clear: to make messaging a complementary tool to its products. By creating or bringing out native applications, its customers will be able to live another experience of Salesforce, breaking away from the cliché of the salesperson dependent on his laptop.
