Salah records in Liverpool debacle

Egyptian national soccer player Mohamed Salah went on a record hunt for his Liverpool FC despite a debacle.

In the 2: 5 (2: 2) in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League against defending champions Real Madrid, he climbed to the top in two statistics thanks to his goal (14th).

The 30-year-old overtook Liverpool club icon Steven Gerrard to become the Reds’ all-time leading scorer in European competition with 42 goals. His 44th goal in the Champions League also drew him level with former star striker Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast), who together are now top African goalscorers in the premier league.

Salah made it 2-0 for team manager Jürgen Klopp’s side on Tuesday, taking advantage of a blunder by Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who missed the ball. It was his 41st goal for Liverpool in the Champions League, Salah had previously scored in the dress of AS Roma (1 goal) and FC Basel (2) in the premier class.
