Hamburg (AP) – The Egyptian Mohamed Salah has been voted player of the year in England by his football colleagues.

The 29-year-old Liverpool FC forward has won the election conducted by the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) for the second time. Salah scored 23 goals last season and was level with Tottenham Hotspur’s Heung-Min Son. According to the PFA, the women’s award went to Chelsea’s Sam Kerr from Australia.

Salah prevailed against Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United), Harry Kane (Tottenham) and his Liverpool teammates Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mané, who were also nominated. Germany international Antonio Rüdiger, who is leaving Chelsea for Real Madrid for the new season, has been voted into the team of the season.
