A sailor was missing on a ship in the seaport near Moerdijk on Wednesday evening. The captain saw the sailor walk to the back of the ship, but did not see him come back. The man may have ended up in the water. A cap was found in the water, a police spokesperson said.
The search has been suspended due to darkness. The search for the missing sailor continues on Thursday morning.
Drone and sonar
The report of the missing sailor was received by the police just after 6.30 am. Emergency services immediately rushed out. A drone and a sonar boat were used to search for the missing man. An air ambulance was also called in, but it left after some time.
