Sailor Annemieke Bes returns in the Ocean Race. The 45-year-old from Groningen, who already participated in the sailing race around the world in 2017-2018, will sail in the fourth leg with skipper Kevin Escoffier’s Swiss team Holcim-PRB. That boat leads the ranking in the Imoca class.
“Super happy to say that I am joining Team Holcim-PRB for the fourth leg of the Ocean Race,” Bes wrote on Instagram with a photo of the boat’s new crew. The fourth stage goes from the Brazilian port of Itajaí to Newport in the United States.
Bes competed in the Olympic Games in 2004, 2008 and 2012. In 2008 in Beijing she took silver in the then Yngling class. Bes was part of Team Sun Hung Kai/Scallywag during the 2017-2018 Ocean Race.
