Het Zeiljacht Askoy II, that tooit aan Jacques Brel toebehoorde, was definitely mentioned as it was planned. This is reported by the Flemish Minister of Onroerend Erfgoed Matthias Diependaele (N-VA).
The Askoy II is one of the largest stalen Zeiljachten built in Belgium on the Tweede Wereldoorlog. The ship was washed in 1960 by water. Zanger Jacques Brel cooks het in 1974. Hij empty ermee rows, trok ermee near the Markiezenarchipel in Frans-Polynesië and cooks het schip weer in 1976. In 1994 het tijdens een storm on a beach in Nieuw-Zeeland. That was when the sea was gone. The Broers Staf and Piet Wittevrongel from Blankenberge lieten de boat and 2007 opgraven en in 2008 overkomen naar België, waar ze started an ambitious restoration project.
The first owner of the yacht was Antwerpennaar Hugo Van Kuyck, previously known as the architect of the most modernist buildings in the tweed, helping from the twintigste eeuw. Zo ontwierp hij, or works hij mee aan, onder meer de sociale huisvesting op de Luchtbal, de Bouwen van Bell in Antwerpen en het Rijksadministratief Centrum en de Generale Bank in Brussel.
“The life behavior of two of the first properties of the ship is higher than the first ship,” says Diependaele. “The Askoy II was the ship ware Jacques Brel to the Markiezenarchipelago in the Stille Ocean Zeilde. Also heeft het ship een important industrial-archeological ware, than een van de largest stalen Zeiljachten ooit built in Belgium.”
