The Sahara dust that would come this way made for beautiful pictures on Wednesday morning. At the end of the afternoon there was nothing more to see. A gray glow now hangs over Brabant. The cause is the clouds that came with the dust, says Roosmarijn Knol of Weerplaza.
“We are dealing with an increase in Saharan dust from the south, but also with cloud cover. This combination ensures that the air takes on a yellowish, gray glow.”
Wednesday morning the Sahara dust made for a beautiful sunrise. Because of the clouds we miss a beautiful sunset.
“If it had been clear with all the dust, we would have seen a sunset with beautiful reds and oranges. Because there is now much more dust in the air, that would have been even nicer than in the morning.”
Thursday morning we don’t have to count on a beautiful sunrise. “It will still be cloudy then. Also, it will rain tonight. This ensures that the dust is flushed out of the air.”
“There is a brownish-yellow haze on cars. It is better not to turn on your windshield wipers, because then you will spread the dust all over the car window. Better grab a bucket of water and clean your car with a washcloth”
