Peter Sagan won the third stage of the Tour de Suisse on Tuesday. The Slovak was the fastest in the bunch sprint and recorded his first major victory in more than a year.
After 177 rolling kilometers, the 32-year-old Sagan was the first to sprint in the streets of Grenchen and in that he was in a class of his own. Frenchman Bryan Coquard (second) and Alexander Kristoff (third) were a bike length short of the three-time world champion. Cees Bol was the best Dutchman with seventh place.
For Sagan, the victory is a big boost in the run-up to the Tour de France. The Slovenian has struggled with his form and health in recent months after contracting a corona infection in January. A fourth place in the second stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico was his best result of the year so far.
