Peter Sagan has to miss the final stage in the Tour of Switzerland on Sunday. The Slovak rider of TotalEnergies tested positive for the corona virus.
Sagan, who won the third stage on Tuesday, is the umpteenth rider to leave the Tour of Switzerland prematurely due to corona. Jumbo-Visma decided to send the entire team home on Thursday. Dutchman Cees Bol tested positive for Team DSM, among others.
“I have no symptoms and I feel fine, but I have to stop the race,” Sagan wrote on Twitter.
Colombian Sergio Higuita of Bora-hansgrohe starts the final time trial, over 25 kilometers in Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein, as leader in the standings.
