Everyone must be safe and be able to fully participate in society. These are the spearheads in the emancipation note Safe participate!,, “ It states how the outgoing cabinet will use this in the coming period. For example, the labor market opportunities for women have to go up. The government also wants to fight even more targeted against violence against women and LGBTIQ+ people. ,, Freedom and security are important for everyone. To be able to develop as a person, but also because we all benefit from it as a society. Because we need all the talents, “said State Secretary Mariëlle Paul (emancipation), who sent the memorandum to the Lower House today.
“Large groups of people still have to deal with cross -border behavior, intimidation on the street, threats or physical violence. Just for who they are or what they look like. I don’t let that happen. ” She also wants to be able to participate in society.
Safety
Everyone in the Netherlands has the right to be safe: on the street, the workplace, school, at home, online and while going out. For women and LGBTIQ+ people, these places are often threatening and unsafe. The fight against sexual cross -border behavior and sexual violence is therefore through, among other things, the National Action Program Approach to sexual cross -border behavior and sexual violence. Through that program we work on a cultural change that prevents this behavior in, for example, student life, education, on the street and the workplace. Public campaigns are part of that approach.
LGBTIQ+ people are much more often victims of violent crimes, disrespectful behavior and bullying. That is why, in collaboration with the Ministry of JenV, a follow-up to the Safety Plan LBHTI 2019-2022 Action Plan focuses on reducing violence and discrimination against these groups, with an emphasis on criminal approach and increasing social security
Freedom and security already start at school. That is why State Secretary Paul will be released and safe education with the bill before the summer recess. The goal is safer schools for everyone, especially for girls and LGBTIQ+ students.
Can participate fully
We have to take even more steps to achieve the equality of women in the labor market. Women now work part -time more often. Women also wrongly opt for sectors that are seen as male, such as technology. Ultimately, it leads to women having insufficient existence and financial independence. The government wants the conditions for women to get better, so that they can fully participate. State Secretary Paul also encourages girls to opt for technology. The Techwadraat and Sterk Techniek Education (STO) educational programs bring young people into contact with (nature) science, technology and IT. Both programs pay extra attention to girls and other under -represented groups.
Women still earn less than men on average. Even if they do exactly the same work and perform the same. To prevent this, the EU Directive Wage Transparency is being implemented. As a result, both employers and employees gain more insight into wage differences within the company. This makes the conversation about those differences easier.
Attention is also paid to the number of women in top positions. Good steps have been taken there, but the number of top women is left behind. The ingrowing quota and target figures Act will be evaluated in 2027.
Emancipation by all ministries
Mariëlle Paul is a coordinating minister of emancipation. In that role, it encourages all Ministries in Policy and Legislation to pay attention to equality between men and women and the equality of LGBTIQ+ people. Other departments can receive support from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, but they are responsible for carrying out the emancipation assignment. Achieving emancipation goals is not conceivable without the use of social organizations, which combine the experience of different target groups with expertise on various policy areas. That is why the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science Alliances has entered into with these organizations.
