The De Mol couple tells their story in an extensive interview with the Linda.Zomerboek.
Johnny de Mol: ‘No knot in the stomach of Spanish interrogation’
Impact on family
De Mol is frankly in the magazine about the impact of the case on his family. “We are still there, we have no feelings of hatred and I am especially happy that the children are going well again. Because Johnny Junior was quite shy by himself, but he has of course felt this atmosphere and that made him more introverter. We really wondered what he thought about it, which was concerned him. And Fender was regularly at our bed at three o’clock because he felt something.” ”” With the interview he wants to put an end to the case. He says he wants to tell his story once, to leave this “heavy damper” behind.
His wife Anouk says that the couple felt compelled to talk to a psychologist. She also says that she thought it was important to make time for each other. “We consciously went out to eat together and then had written questions for each other, as if we were with the psychologist. Where are you now? How do you see yourself in two years? What can we do at the moment to improve things? Very basic, but it caused us to stay in contact with each other. That is already difficult to lose each other with a family anyway.”
‘Hate mode’
De Mol-Van Schie says she found it difficult not to get into a “hate mode.” Initially she still needed to drink a cup of coffee with Kaes, “to ask woman to woman what was going on.” Later that feeling turned into growing anger. She kept wondering why Kaes did all this.
The presenter of The Kwis With Balls, The Tribute and The Oranjezomer says he was upset because of the consequences of the case. “It is not hatred, but that feeling of: don’t come to my family. But it’s good now. Little Johnny has flourished completely, he comes back in with a lifted head, looks at you again, Fender sleeps through and Kiki is doing very well.”
De Mol presented the talk show in 2020 HLF8 When his ex Shima Kaes accused him of assault and attempted manslaughter. The two formed a couple from 2014 to 2015. After a long procedure, the case was dismissed by the Public Prosecution Service in 2022. Kaes started a procedure to enforce prosecution.
In February, however, the Amsterdam Court of Appeal decided not to prosecute De Mol.
