Kerttu Niskanen will not ski on Friday in the Oberhof World Cup. The Ski Federation announced the matter on Friday.
– Kerttu Niskanen misses the day’s competition due to illness. With the absence Jasmin Kähärä will participate in the day’s competition, the press release said.
The Oberhof World Cup starts on Friday with traditional skiing sprints. On Saturday, the program includes 20 kilometers with traditional and joint start, on Sunday 4×7.5 kilometer relays.
Less than two weeks ago, Niskanen finished third overall in the Tour de Ski. Suomalaištahti took two victories on the ski tour.
Kähärä last competed in the World Cup on December 15, when he was twelfth in the Trondheim sprint. Last week, the Finn finished ninth in the free sprint at the Scandinavian Cup in Otepää.
He was 13th in the 20-kilometer traditional race, and ninth in the free race.
Oberhof’s sprint day starts at 13:50 Finnish time.
