Ajax player Ryan Gravenberch injured his ankle in training today and will no longer play this season. His ankle was even put in plaster as a precaution.
The midfielder therefore misses the crucial game for the national title against AZ, sc Heerenveen and Vitesse. According to sources within Ajax, the injury is not serious, but it is expected to keep him aside for six weeks.
The 19-year-old Gravenberch may have already played his last match in an Ajax shirt. The German top club Bayern Munich would be busy taking him over from the team from Amsterdam.
Fifth basic player with injury
The infirmary at Ajax is now quite full. On Saturday against PEC Zwolle, basic players Antony, Lisandro Martínez, Noussair Mazraoui and Remko Pasveer were missing due to injuries.
With three rounds to go, Ajax has a four-point lead over PSV. Moreover, Ajax has a much better goal difference. On Sunday it is AZ-Ajax and Feyenoord-PSV. If Ajax win and PSV lose, the team from Amsterdam will be national champions.
