Canadian actor Ryan Gosling (41) says he was immediately enthusiastic about his appearance as Ken in the new “Barbie” film.

When he saw himself in the role for the first time, he thought: “Finally, finally it’s happening,” he told the industry magazine “Variety”. “It’s been in the making all my life.” The first images from the film set, showing Gosling with tanned skin and platinum blonde hair, were released online in June.

“I felt like I was seeing myself,” Gosling continued of his role. “I felt seen. And I think a lot of Kens will feel represented when they see that.” He’s doing it “for the Kens of this world.”

In the feature film about the world-famous doll, Ryan Gosling plays alongside leading actress Margot Robbie (32). The all-star cast also includes America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu and comedian Will Ferrell. Greta Gerwig (38, “Little Women”, “Lady Bird”) is on board as a director.
