The track is part of the KEN EP, which contains two more variations of the “Barbie” film song.
After “I’m Just Ken”, sung by Ryan Gosling, was already a complete success in terms of catchy tunes in the summer of 2023, the actor and musician now has three more versions of the piece from the “Barbie” film together with Mark Ronson recorded. All song variants have now been released together with the original track as part of the KEN EP. The highlight of the release is “I’m Just Ken (Merry Kristmas Barbie)” – the Christmas edition of the hit. This comes out directly including a music video.
Christmas in Barbieland
Using an orchestra and the sounds of bells, Gosling and Ronson remix the song from director Greta Gerwig’s comedy, creating a more epic interpretation. The accompanying video clip shows the two in a recording studio full of colorful lights and musicians with a variety of instruments, while the Ken actor and the music percent appear as if they disagree about whether they should really implement a Christmas-themed version of the track or not. Of course, it’s all just a show – shortly afterwards they start singing the song in a pleasant mood. The artists used include Matt Sweeney and the composer Brad Oberhofer.
