During Giggs’ absence, Wales managed to qualify for the World Cup, later this year in Qatar. The country recently played in the Nations League against the Netherlands.
“It was an honor to be the Wales national team manager,” Giggs said in a statement. “Given the circumstances, I have to leave now. The current coach, the players, everyone has deserved to prepare as best as possible for the World Cup. That will be difficult for me.”
