Been without a club since the summer
Former German youth international Thomas Eisfeld has signed a contract again after being without a club for almost seven months. The 29-year-old midfielder, who was active for VfL Bochum until the summer of 2021, is now lacing up his shoes for the regional league club Rot-Weiss Essen.
“I’ve been living in the Ruhr area for a long time now and this is where my life is centered. That’s why I didn’t want to accept the first offer that came to me,” Eisfeld said in a statement from RWE. “The RWE package as a whole, with this power, the tradition and the legendary fans, is just incredibly attractive and I’m dying to step on the gas for the club’s big goal.”
The right-footed boy comes from the youth team at Borussia Dortmund and played as a professional for FC Arsenal, FC Fulham and Bochum, for whom he made by far the most appearances at 124 (11 goals/12 assists). With a market value of 400,000 euros, Eisfeld is now at the top of the Essen rankings; only Tim Lemperle (19) and Kerim Calhanoglu (19) from the second teams of 1. FC Köln and Schalke 04 are in the western division of the 4th division valued even higher.
