Ruud Vormer has completed his first training at Zulte Waregem
It was already clear since Tuesday that Ruud Vormer would make his entrance at Zulte Waregem. He took his medical tests there yesterday. On Wednesday afternoon, he spoke to the press for the first time. (Read more below the photo.)
“I’m happy with my choice,” says Vormer, who also had other options. The former captain of Club Brugge will therefore be back on the field in the Jupiler Pro League, on loan until the end of the season at Essevee.

Coincidentally, his last game at Club was against Zulte Waregem last summer. However, a transfer was not possible before because Club wanted to give him another chance under Carl Hoefkens. But with Scott Parker at the helm, a departure is now possible. “I regret how things turned out at Club”, he says. Yet he also finds his buddy Jelle Vossen in red and white, with whom he also drove to training this morning.
Essevee has been interested for some time in the man who once gave his club five national titles and won the Golden Shoe. But for Vormer this is also a family choice, he says.
