“We admire the bravery and courage of both Ukrainian military and civilians in response to the Russian violence,” Rutte continues. “We admire President Zelensky. And I want to say that we, your friends in the Netherlands, support you. We are family in Europe. And we will continue to support you, by providing you with weapons, medicine and food. And by introducing strong sanctions against President Putin and against Russian violence.”
United and determined
Rutte continues: “Free countries are united in their condemnation of the attack. United in their support for the Ukrainian people. And united in their response. I promise you: your determination will also be our determination. For this vicious attack cannot and will not succeed. We are behind you.”
‘Slava Ukraine’
Rutte ends the message with ‘Slava Ukraine’† This is a rallying cry often used by President Zelensky as well, meaning ‘Glory to Ukraine’.
