Rutte: free world more united than ever in support for Ukraine
After the threatening language of Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday, Prime Minister Rutte wrote on Twitter that “the entire free and democratic world is united more than ever in support for Ukraine”.
The prime minister also says he is in constant contact with international partners about the latest developments in Ukraine and about Putin’s threatening, escalating language. For example, Rutte had contact with leaders of countries bordering Russia or Ukraine, such as Poland and the Baltic States, on Sunday. This concerned, among other things, the sanctions against Russia and the supply of military goods to Ukraine.
Putin on Sunday called on Russia’s military leadership to step up nuclear “deterrents”. This includes weapons. Putin has accused the West of taking “unfriendly steps” against his country since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
