Victor Vlam is green and yellow annoyed by Rutger Castricum’s performances at the talk show table of Today Inside. The living opinion tornado has the idea that the PowNed star is very much laughing along with Johan Derksen to appeal to him. And that smile? It is also very annoying, he thinks.

Laughing too hard

It has not gone unnoticed by Rutger that he was so put down about that ‘swallowing’ at Johan. “I read that too, yes,” he admits in the Inside today which was broadcast last night on SBS 6.

Johan Derksen winking: “What’s wrong with that?”

Rutger: “I didn’t think there was much wrong with it, no.”

Wilfred Genee: “So it’s okay, you can live with that?”

Rutger: “God, yes.”

Wilfred: “You laugh too hard. You like it all too much.”

“I didn’t like this!”

Rutger: “Yes, I laugh too hard. Yes, well, look: I drive here with a smile and I also drive away with a smile.”

Johan jokes: “I wish I had that too!”

Then Rutger starts laughing very hard again. He corrects himself: “Yes, hahahaha. Oh, I can’t laugh. I didn’t like this! I think that’s remarkable with programs and talk shows. Of course, people don’t usually laugh so much there, but I’ve always been a very big fan of this program and now I’m in it.

Difficult laugh

When Rutger is there, he just wants to be able to laugh about it. “So yes: then I can’t suppress a laugh every now and then. And that difficult laugh that I have, because that’s what it’s about, I’ve had it for 43 years and my friends make jokes about it. It’s not that I use that or anything.

Wilfred: “But you do feel comfortable? You’re sitting here in a warm bath and you like it?”

Rutger: “Yes, yes.”

Johan: “Rutger has one problem: that boy is 43 years old and at that age is at his top in the top program of the Netherlands. Then your career is basically over.”

Rutger jokes a little later, referring to the criticism: “Johan should actually get a ribbon, I think! Hey?! haha! I hereby dedicate you to a ribbon!”

Nice smile

Does Rutger actually find his own laugh irritating? “I personally find it a pleasant smile. I can handle it myself,” he says in the after-talk section of VI.

He does not intend to take any notice of Victor Vlam’s criticism. “You have to imagine that I have always watched your program very often anyway. I lie in bed at night and then I have to laugh terribly about it. I also like it very much. And then I’m sitting here, yes, should I hold back my laughter?”
