Olympic champion in skiing Alexander Legkov told For Match TV in Russia 23.2.–5.3. of the Championship Heights ski competition to be held.
– It is an alternative event to the World Cup. As far as I understand, the prize money is the same as for the World Cup medalists, Legkov said.
The races are held at the same time as the World Cup skiing in Planica, and of course you won’t see skiers other than Russians there.
– All our athletes are competing in their own country this season. We expect surprises from young people, Legkov continued.
Russian skiers were excluded from international competitions last winter when Russia started a war of aggression in Ukraine.
The World Ski Championships will be held in Planica from February 22 to March 5.
