The Ukrainian army is said to have blown up “several” Russian warships on Friday evening at the port city of Sevastopol, the southernmost city in Crimea. Sources report this to Anton Herashchenko, an adviser to the Minister of the Interior, he writes Saturday.

According to Herashchenko, among the ships affected are at least a frigate and a landing ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, whose headquarters is in Sevastopol. There is still a large amount of smoke around the site of the blasts.

Russian-appointed governor of Sevastopol wrote On Saturday on his Telegram account that Ukraine carried out a “terrorist attack” on the Black Sea fleet, but that the attack was thwarted by the Russian armed forces. As many as seven unmanned naval vehicles were destroyed, he writes.
