The Russian Defense Ministry said on Sunday that its forces have made rapid progress in the south-east of Ukraine’s Zaporizhia region. Two villages are said to have been captured as part of a major attack aimed at gaining full control of the region. In drone footage released by the ministry, Russian soldiers are seen near buildings in the village of Rivnopillya, holding their national flag and battalion flags. According to a report by Reuters, the Ukrainian army said on Wednesday it had sent troops to the area after their positions previously came under fire.
