Nadya Tolokonnikova, a member of the activism and punk collective Pussy Riot, has been put on a wanted list by the Russian Interior Ministry, according to media reports.

It is not known for what specific offenses she is being prosecuted. In the course of March, however, it became public that a case against her for “insulting religious feelings” was pending. Evidence in this case should Pussy Riot NFT of the Madonna and photos on her Instagram account. The artist commented on the message there with a middle finger.

The paragraph under which she is to be prosecuted is also known as the “Pussy Riot Act.” It was only put into effect in 2012 after the group protested against the alliance of the Russian Orthodox Church and the official state apparatus with one of their first public performances, the “Punk Prayer” in Moscow’s Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Some members of the group were subsequently arrested and have since faced repeated government reprisals for their performances.

In addition to Tolokonnikova, who is undoubtedly the most famous member of the loosely organized collective, Maria Alyokhina is also on the wanted list. She fled Russia early last year.

Only at the end of January this year did the group put a video of their latest large-scale campaign online. In August 2022, they burned a 3×3 meter portrait of Vladimir Putin in California. “Magic spells were then used on his ashes to scare him away”.

The recently wanted person has allegedly been living in the USA for a long time. Pussy Riot will be on tour between April and June. In May they come to Germany for eleven concerts.
