According to him, the incident happened on September 29 in international airspace. “Two armed Su-27s ‘intercepted’ a British Air Force RC-35. At one point, one of those Russian planes fired a missile near the British plane. The interaction between the three aircraft lasted 90 minutes.”
Russia admitted the incident. Moscow said it was a “technical failure” and an investigation is underway. The British minister called the incident “potentially dangerous”.
British patrol flights over the Black Sea were initially suspended but have now been resumed under fighter escort.
