New Russian missile attacks have led to widespread blackouts in Ukraine.
“Today’s rocket attacks have resulted in the temporary shutdown of all nuclear power plants and the majority of thermal and hydroelectric power plants,” the Ministry of Energy in Kyiv said on Facebook on Wednesday. In addition, objects of the energy network were damaged.
Due to the severity of the damage, repairs will take time. The authority did not provide more detailed information on the number of households affected.
Russia has been waging a war of aggression against Ukraine for almost nine months. After military setbacks, Moscow is increasingly relying on the destruction of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
