Russian man bitten to death by shark in Egyptian sea | Abroad

A Russian man has died after a shark attack in Egypt’s Red Sea. Reuters news agency has learned this from the local authorities.

The incident happened off a beach at an Egyptian resort on the Red Sea. Many sharks live in that water.

The country’s environment minister has confirmed on Facebook that a tiger shark is responsible for the death of a beachgoer. He gave no further details. A swimming ban had been issued at the beach and surrounding areas, precisely to prevent these types of victims. The authorities allegedly caught the shark.

Bystanders tried to help the man after the lifeguard raised the alarm. But they couldn’t get to him in time. The Russian state news agency TASS writes that it concerns a citizen from the year of birth 1999. By the way, he lived in Egypt and was therefore not a tourist.
