“According to a presidential decree on the National Development Goals of the Russian Federation, we must reach a life expectancy of 78 years by 2030. Unfortunately, the corona pandemic has put us somewhat behind and life expectancy has decreased by 3.3 years in the past two years,” said deputy director of the ministry Valeria Gulshina.
The average life expectancy in Russia in 2020 was 71 years, according to World Bank data. For women, the average life expectancy was significantly higher than for men (76.4 years compared to 66.5 years). “To get back on track for the target, we need to preserve the lives of at least 116,000 Russian nationals by 2022,” Gulshina said.
